This is an original WW2 American Stars and Stripes Soldier's Newspaper sheet from 2nd May 1945 announcing the death of Adolf Hitler. The Stars and Stripes printed several editions from where the soldiers were fighting at the time - this one is particularly nice though as it is the Germany edition. It was kept as a souvenir by an American GI and brought home from Germany after the war. It is one sheet, made up of 4 pages. The article on Hitler's death reports the German radio broadcast that announced "Adolf Hitler has fallen this afternoon at his command post in the Reich Chancellery, fighting to the last breath against Bolshevism and for Germany".
Whilst it has been folded a few times, it is nonetheless in good condition for its age with the only significant damage being a tear / hole in the middle of the sheet. There are also a couple of other minor tears commensurate with age. A great souvenir from Germany printed and distributed in the final week of the war in Europe. Would look excellent framed.
